Sept. 25th will see the release of the latest of the Queen's Beasts series, the highly-anticipated Unicorn of Scotland. This series is one of the newest available on the market, with its first release as recent as 2016. Honoring over 500 years of British monarchy and history, this release features an exciting new update to the design.
The Royal Mint announced a schedule for the upcoming coins in Queen's Beasts series 2016-2020. The Queen's Beasts series come in silver and gold versions. The first released coin in 2016 was the Lion of England, the second one was Griffin of Edward III. The obverse of the coins depicts the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
In the wake of the Trump election, the US dollar has broken out higher from the two-year consolidation that we have been watching now for many months. Held between the 92 support level and the 100 resistance zone since the beginning of 2015, the dollar hit a high of 101.5 last week, decisively breaking through the aforementioned resistance.
The positive correlation we were monitoring last week between the US dollar and the gold price has become even more pronounced since the last update. The US dollar, as measured by the Dollar Index, has continued to rise toward medium-term resistance on the charts near the 100 level. Meanwhile, gold is refusing to break down below its recent low of $1,243 set on October 7.
